During Global Entrepreneurship Week Korea 2018, which was held on November 12-13 in Seoul, South Korea, there were 86 winners praised for their business or entrepreneurial activities.
Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation have hosted GEW Korea since 2014 to highlight the major issues of entrepreneurship and encourage various entrepreneurs in Korea. There are teenage award winners with a cartoon describing entrepreneurship, high school teachers who offer an effective class of entrepreneurship and also young innovative entrepreneurs. Minister Hong Jong Haak of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) in Korea mentioned that the Ministry will be actively involved in the revival of Korean ventures despite the downswing of the last decade. GEW Korea has always one priority: an annual entrepreneurship event for the whole nation. Starting with opening ceremony and keynote speech, GEW Korea has many parallel sessions for two days. A several of events in other cities of Korea opened during the week to enhance the entrepreneurial culture, which makes GEW Korea more abundant and a nation-wide festival. KoEF gained satisfying numbers from GEW Korea 2018: 91% of visitors satisfied with the event, and 88% people mentioned that they have had a better understanding on the entrepreneurship after the event. Considering several opinions from GEW Korea this year, KoEF plans to expand more partners and types of visitors to achieve the goal of GEW Korea.
