China: Platform Economy Promotes High Quality Development of Employment Level

  • At the Forum themed as "Platform Economy Stabilizing Employment, Creating Employment, and Promoting High Quality Development " held on 10th April, the Report:2023 Frontiers of China's Digital Economy: Platforms and High-Quality and Full Employment was jointly launched through the China Information Economy Society and other institutions. According to the incomplete statistics, some primary internet platform enterprises created about 240 million net employments in China in 2021, presenting employment opportunities for about 27% of the Chinese working-age populace that year. For its goal in stabilizing employment, creating employment, and promoting employment, the Industry Self-Discipline Work Committee of the China Internet Association and the Sharing Economy Working Committee of China Internet Association together launched a collective initiative with the top 9 Internet platform enterprises, BEIKE, Didi Chuxing, DINGDONG Shopping, JD, KUAISHOU Group, Full Truck Alliance, SHANSONG,SCIENJOY, DAOJIA (in alphabetical order) , aiming to give full play to the platform's technological innovation advantages and the function of "reservoir" and "stabilizer" for employment. By exploring employment potential through healthy business growth, implementing national employment policies, creating more employment opportunities for key groups, and strengthening measures such as safeguarding the rights and interests of workers in new forms of employment, the proponents hoped to achieve the goal of achieving higher quality employment.
