  • Innovate UK, the government's innovation agency, launched its "Women in Innovation" campaign since 2016. The aim is to encourage innovation among female leaders, help women realize their business ambitions and promote innovation diversity. As part of the campaign, Innovate UK set up women's innovation awards. The award provides£50,000 in commercial funding and a customized package of support to help the winning company grow its business and ultimately drive the UK economy.

This year, nine of the most innovative British companies led by women won the award. The winners are tackling some of society's biggest challenges set out in the government's modern Industry Strategy, including artificial intelligence (AI) and the future of mobility. The women's innovation awards are designed to address one of the main barriers to diversity in innovation - the lack of female role models. By acknowledging their achievements, we ensure that the nine new winners will inspire the next generation of female creators.
